EMPLOYER:  7-Eleven, Inc.

JOB TITLE:     Network Engineer

LOCATION:    Irving, TX and hybrid role, may work from home

DUTIES: Implement, manage and optimize the 7-Eleven network architecture infrastructure, including routers, switches, load balancers and wireless, in support of all data center, store, field office and cloud connectivity requirements. Follow company policy and procedures along with industry best practices to ensure the overall health, security and scalability of the network infrastructure. Work with 7-Eleven business units to understand their IT requirements. Research existing technologies that align with business requirements and provide effective solutions based upon professional experience and industry best practices. Collaborate with other Subject Matter Experts and team members on project solutions. Work in collaboration with the Network Operations Manager to communicate and resolve both technical and support issues. Produce engineering and implementation plans to support new initiatives as well as prepare reports and documentation on the existing network configuration as required. Provide technical leadership including the mentoring of junior and senior staff. Participate in 7x24x365 On-Call operations for network infrastructure. Actively monitor, measure and report on the health and scalability of the network infrastructure. Proactively communicate to management as network usage approaches design thresholds and take action to preempt service degradation, focusing on the highest network uptime. Responsible for Cisco switches and routers; Juniper switches and routers, and wireless controllers; and working with one of the following technologies: QOS, VOIP, cloud technologies such as VPC, Peering, NAT gateways or security groups

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, and 4 years of experience in the job offered or as a Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, Computer Systems Engineer or in a related/similar position. Experience therein to include 4 years in the following: performing network engineering using the following: Cisco switches and routers; Juniper switches and routers, and wireless controllers; and working with one of the following technologies: QOS, VOIP, cloud technologies such as VPC, Peering, NAT gateways or security groups. Hybrid role, ability to work from home. Domestic travel required 30% annually.
