Job Summary

We are seeking a talented attorney to join our highly collaborative legal team. The ideal candidate is an agile and solutions-oriented attorney for a role that supports critical procurement, maintenance and marketing workstreams. This attorney will have responsibility for managing, negotiating, drafting and overseeing a variety of complex and routine commercial agreements.The role also offers an opportunity to support 7-Eleven's acclaimed marketing department by drafting marketing-related agreements and advising on consumer and advertising law issues impacting the business such as disclaimers, loyalty programs, sweepstakes, sales promotions, contest rules, etc

Key Responsibilities:

  • This role will collaborate closely with procurement, maintenance and marketing team members by providing legal advice on a range of day-to-day issues that arise with supporting 7-Eleven's 13,000+ stores across the U.S. and Canada as well as our Store Support Centers in Irving, Texas and Enon, Ohio. 
  • Candidates should be intellectually curious and strategically focused, with a knack for issue spotting and identifying solutions in a fast-paced environment with a broad range of issues.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements to support our business, including equipment and indirect product/service purchases, consulting arrangements, marketing and talent services agreements, maintenance contracts, NDAs, etc.  The candidate will continuously seek ways to improve the processes involved and will help build and improve contract templates and negotiation playbooks.
  • Provide proactive strategic advice on day-to-day legal issues, enabling clients to meet business objectives within the risk tolerance of 7-Eleven.
  • In addition to being a self-starter with the ability to work independently, this position requires a high degree of collaboration with other business groups within 7-Eleven.  This person must be able to collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues in Sourcing, Business Units, Risk, Tax and the Legal Department to efficiently develop practical business solutions.
  • Negotiates with outside parties on contractual issues and legal disputes to facilitate efficient resolutions, when possible.
  • In addition to a strong commercial background, familiarity with some or all of the following is preferred but not required: franchise relationships, highly regulated retail products, intellectual property, and marketing and advertising laws.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: JD

4 years of experience

State Bar

  • A desire and ability to learn 7-Eleven's business and understand the needs of our customers and store operators.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a track record of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills with internal clients and business leaders as well as the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate needs and execute solutions in an environment with changing demands
