The Warehouse Lead Hand is responsible for assisting the Warehouse Supervisor in coordinating and overseeing daily warehouse activities. This role involves leading a team of warehouse workers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The Lead Hand serves as a point of contact for team members and helps resolve operational issues as they arise.
Operations:
Supervise and guide warehouse staff in daily tasks such as receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping goods in supervisor’s absence or as required.
Assign tasks to team members and ensure workloads are balanced.
Train new employees on warehouse procedures, safety protocols, and equipment usage.
Assist in coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular stock checks to maintain accuracy.
Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed.
Ensure all warehouse activities comply with company policies and safety regulations
Administrative work such as updating the daily Receiving Log, lot codes, shipping records and tracking the Merchandising Report.
Assisting Warehouse supervisor in daily Inventory Control including Coordination of Daily ordering and Delivery Schedule.
Responsible for monitoring employee hygiene and GMP Practices are being followed according to SOP and Brand standards.
Assisting in preparing for the launch of new product, promotion, and order as per the forecast.
Ensure all products are kept at the required safe temperature guidelines while receiving and shipping.
Assisting in monitoring daily Inventory and Write Off Controls including FIFO standards.
Maintain the allergen policy in storage areas and avoid cross contamination of any kind.
Position may require other job duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Quality and Food Safety:
Ensures HACCP and SQF compliance.
Maintains any required mobile equipment license as required and ensures staff is certified.
Assisting Food Center Manager in internal audit as and when required.
Human Resources & Safety:
Follows HR practices and procedures for positive discipline. Provides regular motivational and corrective feedback to employees as required.
Assisting warehouse supervisor for updating SDS and attending the Health and Safety Meetings Monthly ensuring all Health and Safety Regulations and Requirements are being followed and met daily.
Promotes and displays proactive, positive leadership qualities to the team.
Gives direction-guidance to warehouse staff, drivers, on performance, training and positive discipline.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Minimum grade 12 or equivalent
Relative experience including Warehouse Supervisory Experience
Supervisor skills and experience
Communication skills
demonstrates leadership
ability to effectively train other team members
Must hold Valid Forklift Certification
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/TRAVEL:
Reading- High School
Writing- High School
Math- High School
Basic Computer Skills including Excel Knowledge.
Travel- Minimal – No.
Ability to perform/ operate fax machine for minimal ordering, pallet/ power jack, forklift or other warehouse equipment.
PHYSICAL EFFORT/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to work in Cold environment. Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 lbs. to a max of 50 lbs.
