Job Summary 

This position will support the 7-Eleven Employment Legal team by providing practical and business-oriented legal counsel on a wide range of employment-related matters across the organization in U.S. and Canada. Reporting directly to the Lead Employment Counsel, this role will partner closely with Human Resources, Employee Relations, Payroll, Operations, Asset Protection, Health & Safety, and other cross-functional stakeholders to support employment litigation, compliance initiatives, policy development, investigations, and day-to-day counseling.

This role is ideal for an attorney seeking to further develop in-house employment law experience within a fast-paced and collaborative environment while working closely with a dynamic legal department and business leaders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support and practical guidance on employment-related matters, including employee relations, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, accommodations, investigations, discipline, and termination matters.
  • Assist in and manage employment litigation, administrative charges, demand letters, and agency matters.
  • Assist in and manage outside counsel on employment-related disputes and investigations.
  • Draft, review, and update employment policies, procedures, training materials, and employee communications.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare risk assessments, guidance memoranda, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Human Resources, Payroll, Operations, Benefits, and other business teams to provide timely and practical legal advice.
  • Support responses to agency inquiries, audits, subpoenas, and investigations.
  • Assist with internal investigations and fact gathering related to workplace concerns and compliance matters.
  • Monitor developments in federal, state, and local employment laws and assist with implementation of policy or process updates as needed.
  • Help identify emerging employment law risks and provide recommendations to support proactive risk mitigation.
  • Support training initiatives related to employment law compliance and workplace best practices.
  • Manage multiple assignments and priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and responsiveness.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed attorney in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 4-7 years of employment law experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination of both.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience handling or supporting employment litigation, administrative charges, investigations, or compliance matters preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide practical, business-focused advice.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Interest in developing in-house counseling experience within a dynamic and operations-focused environment.
