Job Description
The Senior Strategic Planning Analyst supports high-priority strategic initiatives that inform executive decision-making and long-term business planning at 7-Eleven.
This role provides a unique opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, contribute to discussions that shape the future direction of the business, and gain broad exposure to enterprise-wide strategic priorities. It offers a strong foundation for future career growth by providing visibility across multiple functions, leadership teams, and key business initiatives.
The role contributes to CEO- and Board-level discussions by translating complex internal and external information into structured analyses, actionable insights, and compelling strategic narratives.
Working across a broad range of enterprise topics, the position strengthens the Strategy team's impact by combining analytical rigor with strong communication and storytelling skills. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in dynamic environments, synthesizing diverse data sources, and developing clear recommendations that support business decisions.
This is not a traditional corporate strategy role focused on managing annual planning processes or business unit strategy development. Instead, the team operates as an internal advisory function, partnering with senior leadership to provide strategic analysis, competitive intelligence, market insights, and executive-level materials that support enterprise discussions and key business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with leaders and cross-functional teams across the organization to address key business questions and strategic priorities.
- Monitor competitors, industry developments, and emerging trends to identify opportunities, risks, and implications for the business.
- Support the development of materials for executive reviews, Monthly Business Reviews, Board discussions, earnings processes, and other high-priority forums.
- Translate complex business issues into clear and compelling narratives, helping stakeholders make informed decisions.
- Contribute to enterprise-wide strategic discussions by providing analytical perspectives and fact-based insights.
- Support knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement efforts that strengthen the organization's strategic capabilities.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, management consulting, investment banking, finance, or a related analytical role.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong PowerPoint, Excel, and written communication skills, with the ability to develop clear and professional business materials.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize information and identify key insights.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to present findings and recommendations to a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience conducting market research, competitive analysis, consumer insights, or business performance analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Curiosity, learning agility, and a willingness to tackle complex business challenges.
- Experience utilizing AI- or LLM-based tools to enhance research, analysis, and productivity is a plus.
- Demonstrated interest in retail, consumer-facing industries, or emerging business and technology trends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Exposure to investor relations, earnings preparation, executive communications, or Board-related processes.
- Understanding of key retail and consumer industry performance metrics, including sales growth, margins, customer trends, and unit economics.
- Experience using market intelligence, consumer insights, or research platforms such as Bloomberg, AlphaSense, Placer.ai, or similar tools.
- Experience working with large datasets and translating quantitative findings into business insights and recommendations.
- Demonstrated interest in retail, consumer-facing businesses, emerging technologies, and evolving market trends.
