▶ About This Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY: The Store Technology team at 7-Eleven is currently seeking a Senior Technical Manager with a wealth of experience. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively with a team of engineers, architects, and product visionaries to develop and implement new products, features, and enhancements into our cloud-based store technology platform. This will result in the development of exceptional products that improve the shopping experience for our customers and alleviate the workload of our store employees.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: We are in search of a Senior Technical Manager who is both highly competent and passionate about joining our team. The incumbent will possess a profound comprehension of emergent technology trends, the ability to architect solutions with the cloud in mind, and a demonstrated capacity to participate in hands-on prototyping of advanced technologies. The incumbent will exhibit a strong business acumen, a commitment to addressing complex technical issues, and a concentration on prioritizing initiatives that generate the most substantial value. As a Senior Technical Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the IT strategy for Store Systems at 7-Eleven and will provide technology direction. The Store Systems infrastructure will be instrumental in guaranteeing the efficient and seamless operation of 7-Eleven stores throughout the United States and Canada. Collaborates closely with cross-functional technology teams, business, and product teams to ensure that the team's workload is prioritized. Additionally, the individual communicates effectively and plainly with leadership teams. Guarantees that the store technology platform facilitates the efficient administration of multiple store platforms and the seamless integration with a variety of 7-Eleven and third-party systems. Owns and communicates with teams onshore and offshore, and is responsible for multiple streams under RIS 2.0.
Responsibilities:
- Builds and drives multiple develeopment streams, enterprise partners and vendors in delivering innovative store technology products through a combination of inhouse developed software, integrating applications across the organization, working with legacy solutions and best of breed third party solutions.
- Ensures efficient execution of overall product delivery by prioritizing, planning and tracking progress to both sprint and roadmap outcomes.
- Actively engages in product and business discussions with a technical eye for feasibility and adherence to overall roadmaps and architectural strategy.
- Knowledge of Retail/Cost accounging, and working with Accounting systems is a plus.
- Models an environment of strong collaboration and partnership with engineers, domain architects, product leaders, stakeholders and partners to drive execution of roadmap, negotiate changes in priorities and manage communication of impacts.
- Manages and directs 2-3 PODs of 4 to 6 software developers. Evaluates employee performance; sets expectations and goals for individual staff members; and recruits, disciplines and trains staff.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Qualifications:
- Adept at solution and technical architecture of mobile apps and APIs and how to drive operational reliability at large scale.
- 10+ years of experience in product development as senior engineer, technical lead or product architect.
- 10+ years of solid development experience in distributed platforms Experience with NodeJS, Java, AWS Cloud, Integration with Kafka, Kinesis, Lambda's, Step Functions, EC2, ECS, Document DB, Dynamo DB, RDS Aurora PostGreSQL, Redis, React UI.
- 8+ years of people management experience, managing engineers.
- 3-5 years of experience managing hybrid resource environments that can include changing mixes of in-house developers, contractors, offshore and/or partner-provided resources.
- Experienced at establishing and running operational support structures including covering incident and change management.
- Knowledgeable in cloud platforms (preferable AWS: both traditional EC2 and serverless Lambda), micro-services architecture, CI/CD solutions (including Docker), DevOps principles, message queue systems and background task management.
- Ability to work in an Agile /SCRUM environment.
- Self-directed with a start-up/entrapenuer mindset.
- Ravenous about learning technology and problem solving.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Experience with retail industry experiences and solutions would be a plus
- Ability to keep abreast of new technological and or/procedural developments and demonstrate knowledge and expertise with software tools and ability to evaluate. * Ability to deal with and resolve ambiguity.
- Strong leadership, planning, and project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- 3+ years of experience in an Individual-contributor role, Lead with influence, and lead by example.
- Experience and good knowledge of Public Cloud Platforms, primarily AWS, Azure, and GCP
- 3+ years of data governance, enterprise Data models, data access, data lineage, data monitoring, and security controls experience
- Broad knowledge of software engineering: programing-languages, frameworks, Architecture principles, advanced design patterns, techniques, industry trends, etc.
