Dispatcher
Job ID R26_357 Address 14434 157 Ave NW, Edmonton, Alberta, T6V 0K8, Canada Location Edmonton, Alberta7-Eleven Distribution Canada is looking for a Dispatcher in our warehouse operation to support our day-to-day delivery operations.
The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the transportation of goods directly to retail locations, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries. This role involves maintaining clear communication with both the customer service team and transportation teams to resolve issues and uphold service standards. A key responsibility includes organizing and managing proof of delivery documents, ensuring they are accurately collected, recorded, and stored for compliance and auditing purposes. The Dispatcher must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of adapting quickly in a fast-paced logistics environment to support smooth and efficient operations.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Ensure trucks are loaded and prepared for departure by dispatching drivers with the appropriate paperwork.
Act as the primary contact for drivers regarding delays, breakdowns, and other issues.
Receive drivers after completing their routes.
Review trip and paperwork with drivers to ensure accuracy, verify and address any discrepancies.
Complete all post-dispatch administrative tasks: Data entry, Scanning, Filing
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION: High School/GED
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 1+ years
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Thorough working knowledge of transportation management systems– including route tracking, load tracking, and driver scheduling tools.
Strong organizational and document management skills – especially in handling and archiving proof of delivery (POD) documents accurately and efficiently.
Excellent communication and coordination skills – to effectively liaise between drivers, retail stores, internal customer service team, and logistics teams in real time.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – particularly Excel and Outlook for scheduling, reporting, and communication.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills – to quickly address delivery disruptions, reroute shipments, and maintain service standards under pressure.
