JOB TITLE: Senior Software Engineer

LOCATION: Irving, TX (hybrid role, may work from home)

DUTIES: Monitor and optimize large-scale production environment, ensuring high system availability and performance using observability tools. Collaborate with cross-functional development teams to refine release pipelines, monitoring strategies, and incident response practices. Automate operational tasks using Python, NodeJS, and AWS Lambda to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Design and implement scalable infrastructure solutions in AWS, including ECS,EKS, EC2 and cost optimization practices. Drive critical incident response, perform root cause analysis, and develop preventive automation through After-Action Reviews. Manage API gateway security and traffic reliability through APIGEE, integrating real-time scanning to block bot and hacker traffic. Lead and document post-incident reviews; maintain detailed runbooks and playbooks for operational continuity and team knowledge sharing. Develop and tune automated alerting systems using New Relic and AWS services to identify performance degradation and application issues. Execute chaos engineering experiments and stress testing via AWS Fault Injection Simulator/Gremlin to validate application resilience. Oversee offshore team activities to align with SRE best practices. Improve application performance and reduce costs by implementing resource auto-scaling and monitoring tools for AWS cloud infrastructure. Ensure system security compliance by automating monitoring protocols and integrating security best practices across software lifecycle. Design and implement observability frameworks using Open Telemetry for distributed tracing to enhance root cause analysis and reduce mean time to resolution. Lead SRE initiatives including definition of Service Level Objectives, Service Level Indicators, and enforcement of error budgets across microservices. Automate operational workflows by integrating dynamic runbooks with incident management systems to minimize manual intervention and improve on-call efficiency.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electronic Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related field, and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or as a Software or Systems Engineer, Site Reliability/DevOps Engineer, or in a related/similar position. Experience therein to include 5 years in site reliability or DevOps engineering or software development, using AWS; 4 years coding in Python; 3 years with observability tools; 2 years in chaos engineering, Docker and ECS containerization technologies; and 1 year in API management using APIGEE, and cost optimization techniques in cloud environments. Hybrid role, ability to work from home.
